ISLAMABAD (NNP) —
At an official ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, 4 newly-elected ambassadors meet President Asif Ali Zardari and presented their diplomatic credentials on Tuesday.
The ambassadors included:
- Canadian High Commissioner Tariq Ali Khan
- Lebanese Ambassador Abdulaziz Issa
- Netherlands Ambassador Robert Jan Segert
- New Zealand High Commissioner David Pine
Upon arrival, the ambassadors were received with a guard of honor by a contingent of the Pakistan Army.
President Asif Ali Zardari Welcomes the Ambassadors
President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated the newly-elected ambassadors on assuming office and expressed hope for stronger bilateral ties with their respective countries.
He emphasized that Pakistan attaches great importance to diplomatic cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, technology, education, and renewable energy.
Pakistan–Canada Relations
The President noted that Pakistan–Canada relations are long-standing and friendly, adding that there is significant potential for collaboration in the fields of IT, energy, and minerals.
He appreciated the Canadian High Commissioner for his efforts in strengthening economic and diplomatic engagement.
Solidarity with Lebanon
Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Lebanon, strongly condemning Israeli aggression and pledging continued support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Pakistan stands with Lebanon in its pursuit of peace and stability,” he stated.
Enhancing Cooperation with the Netherlands
The President underlined the need to further expand Pakistan–Netherlands cooperation in trade, investment, and education.
He praised the Netherlands’ role in water management and environmental sustainability projects, calling their partnership with Pakistan “valuable and forward-looking.”
Exploring Partnership with New Zealand
Speaking with New Zealand High Commissioner David Pine, President Zardari highlighted vast opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and clean energy.
He expressed optimism that bilateral relations would grow stronger under the new leadership.

President Asif Ali Zardari extended his best wishes to all four ambassadors, expressing confidence that their services would help deepen Pakistan’s global partnerships.
