Sindh govt to ensure no alteration occurs in original jurisdictions of towns in Karachi: Saeed Ghani

Karachi
Sindh Local Government Minister, Saeed Ghani, has said the provincial government will make sure that there is no alteration in the original jurisdiction of the newly established town municipal corporations in Karachi.
Ghani stated this on Friday while chairing a meeting of the Sindh Local Government Commission.
He assured the participants of the meeting that the Local Government Commission would make sure that the municipal agencies in Karachi should get their just rights as per the law and constitution.
The meeting discussed in detail the controversy related to the jurisdictions of the town municipal corporations Korangi and Shah Faisal in Karachi.
The representatives of the office of Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh told the meeting that there was no difference in the notifications issued by the Sindh government and the Election Commission of Pakistan to define the jurisdictions of the two towns in the city.
The meeting decided that the Local Government Commission wouldn’t decide on this issue until the court issued a judgment and the two towns forged a consensus on this matter. The issue of the jurisdictions of the two towns was deferred until the next meeting of the Local Government Commission.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary, of the Local Government Department, Syed Khalid Hyder Shah, ECP’s representative, Khuda Baksh, and Local Government Commission members Abdul Rahim, Ali Ahmed Baloch, Wasim Usmani, and DG of the commission, Abu Bakar.
