GATEWAY TO THE HIGH PEAKS – SKARDU

Skardu, the principal town of the Skardu District in Gilgit-Baltistan, is famously known as the gateway to the high peaks of the Karakoram Range. It’s nestled on the confluence of the Indus and Shigar Rivers, making it an ideal base for expeditions to some of the world’s highest mountains, including K2, the second-highest peak. Satpara Lake: A natural lake that supplies water to Skardu town and is a popular spot for trout fishing, boating, and picnics. With the magnificent Satpara Dam increasing, the lake has become even more attractive.

Sheosar Lake: Located in the Deosai National Park, this lake is known for its crystal-clear waters and the spectacular, wide-open landscapes of the Deosai Plains around it.
Shangrila Resort: Also known as “Heaven on Earth,” it is set amidst the beautiful gardens and is centered around the heart-shaped Lower Kachura Lake.

Skardu Fort: Also known as Kharpocho, it presides over the town, offering an insight into the region’s history and stunning views of the Valley below.

Shigar Fort: Located in the nearby Shigar Valley, this 17th-century fort has been restored and converted into a heritage hotel, allowing visitors to experience the region’s history firsthand.
