KARACHI (NNP) —
Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi Manghopir Town paid an emergency visit to Union Committee No. 14, Christian Mohalla, to review the ongoing culvert bridge construction aimed at improving movement and drainage in the area.
The chairman inspected the mini bridges being built over drainage channels, ensuring they are designed to allow smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians even during heavy rainfall.
Prompt Action After Public Complaints
According to UC-14 Vice Chairman and Opposition Leader Habibullah Swati, residents had reported serious inconvenience due to the absence of culverts. Acting swiftly, Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi Manghopir Town visited the site personally and directed that no delay in construction would be tolerated.
“These culverts must be durable, sturdy, and capable of withstanding heavy rainfall pressure,” the Chairman instructed.
Engineering Review and Site Inspection
During the inspection, Sub Engineer Junaid Siddiqui, along with the town’s engineering team and sanitation department officials, briefed the chairman about the progress.
He assessed the design, foundation, material quality, and water flow capacity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining unobstructed drainage flow beneath the culverts.
The chairman further directed that side walls and protective barriers be installed to ensure the safety of citizens crossing these areas.
Future Plans for Manghopir Town Development
Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi Manghopir Town announced that additional areas suffering from similar drainage issues had been identified, and new culvert bridges would be constructed there as part of the ongoing public convenience and infrastructure improvement plan.
“Development projects across Manghopir Town will continue in line with the vision of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership,” he stated.
“Public convenience and safety remain our top priorities.”
Public Appreciation and Daily Monitoring
Residents of UC-14 thanked Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi for his swift response and leadership, noting that public works in Manghopir Town have accelerated under his supervision.
The chairman directed the officers to:
- Submit daily progress reports
- Ensure timely completion of all culvert projects
- Take immediate action on any drainage obstruction or complaint
Once completed, a final re-inspection will be carried out to confirm the durability and long-term benefit of the infrastructure.
