Increase the security fee of electricity connection

Ministry of Power Division has decided to increase security as per 3 months bills:
Lahore: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has decided to increase the security fee of electricity connection.
According to Nepra sources, electricity distribution companies have filed an application in Nepra.
In which it has been requested to increase the electricity connection security fee from Rs.1220/- to 18 thousand rupees for domestic consumers.
Sources say that consumers with loads less than 10 kilowatts will have to pay Rs. 20,000/- per kilowatt.
Consumers will have to pay up to Rs 24,000/- for connection to a single phase meter.
According to sources, a request has been made to increase the security fee from Rs 610 to Rs 7800 per kilowatt in rural areas.
While the users with more than 10 marla land will have to pay one percent of the property rate.
Nepra sources say that it has been decided to increase security for industrial, street lights and housing societies as well.
Under which the fee for commercial and small industry has been requested to be increased to Rs 57000 per kilowatt from 2010.
However, after the hearing in Nepra, demand notices will be issued by increasing the security fee.
It should be noted that earlier the connection fee has been increased in July 2023 as well.
