Karachi face shortage of water

Karachi (Staff Reporter) Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has said that the supply of water in Karachi is half as compared to the demand, due to the increase in water demand in the summer and load shedding of electricity, there is a shortage of water in many areas of the city at the moment. Faced۔ He expressed these views in response to the attention notice of opposition member Jamal Ahmed in the Sindh Assembly on Monday۔ Jamal Ahmed said that there is a drinking water crisis in his constituency PS 130, due to which the people there are facing problems۔ Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani said that the water problem is in Karachi city۔ Summers are high and electricity is also a problem۔ He said that there is a shortage of water in North Nazimabad۔ A scheme is being made that 90% of the water from the reservoir to Central District gets water, some areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal are also watered from this line۔ Now Gulshan-e-Iqbal is that these areas will be watered from other reservoirs and there will be no difficulty and the remaining water will be added to the central water۔ After which there will be an increase in water in North Nazimabad۔ Saeed Ghani said that our 100 mgd of water comes from the hub, but due to the defects in the canal, only 70 mg of water is currently available from there۔ We have started working on the canal rapidly, after which the entire 100 mg water will be available and on this another 50 mgd of water will be added to 150 mgd under one objective scheme۔ He said that at present work is going on the four of the water project and we are trying to increase the supply compared to the water demand in Karachi۔
