Karachi (NNP) Pakistan Coast Guard anti-trawling operations in coordination with the Balochistan Fisheries Department continue to target illegal fishing and smuggling activities along the province’s coastline.
According to official sources, Pakistan Coast Guard and Balochistan Fisheries jointly conducted multiple operations in the Ormara, Pasni, and Jiwani sea areas, successfully seizing six illegal fishing trawlers during the past month. These boats were found involved in trawling, a prohibited fishing practice that severely damages the marine ecosystem and affects the livelihoods of local fishermen.
Local fishing communities have welcomed the action, emphasizing the need to permanently end trawling and related illegal maritime activities.
In a separate operation near Karachi’s coastal waters, the Coast Guard seized 245 banned fishing nets, which were harmful to marine life and disrupted fish breeding zones.
A spokesperson for the Pakistan Coast Guards reaffirmed their commitment to continue such anti-trawling and anti-smuggling operations without discrimination or external pressure.
“We will keep protecting the coastal belt and maritime borders of Pakistan to prevent illegal activities and strengthen the country’s economy,” the statement added.
