Pakistan elected as a member of the UN Human Rights Council from 2026 to 2028, marking another milestone in the country’s diplomatic achievements.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, in his message on social platform X (formerly Twitter), announced that Pakistan received a large majority of votes in the election. He said this victory is an international recognition of Pakistan’s role in promoting and protecting human rights across the world.

Ishaq Dar expressed gratitude to all member countries for their support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the TRUCE principles — tolerance, respect, universality, consensus, and partnership.
“Pakistan will continue to work with the international community for the promotion and protection of human rights,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also expressed his happiness over the development, saying that Pakistan’s election as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) reflects the nation’s active and effective role at the global level.

He added that Pakistan will remain fully committed to promoting human rights, equality, and justice around the world through its active participation in the council.
