Pakistan Navy Ship YARMOOK counter-narcotics operation under the Saudi-led Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150) has resulted in the seizure of narcotics valued at nearly USD 972 million in the North Arabian Sea, marking one of the most successful maritime interdictions of the year.
Operation Under CTF-150 and Combined Maritime Forces
While operating as part of the multinational Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), PNS YARMOOK intercepted a suspicious vessel during routine surveillance. The swift action led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of narcotics intended for international trafficking routes.
This achievement demonstrates the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to regional maritime security, international cooperation, and the global fight against narcotics smuggling, terrorism, and organized crime at sea.
Enhancing Regional Maritime Security
CTF-150, headquartered in Bahrain, focuses on ensuring maritime stability and freedom of navigation across the high seas, particularly within the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, and Indian Ocean corridors.
By participating in these operations, Pakistan Navy Ship YARMOOK continues to reaffirm Pakistan’s active role as a responsible maritime partner, promoting peace and lawful commerce within the wider Indian Ocean Region.
Naval Chief Commends Crew Professionalism
Following the successful operation, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, praised the crew of PNS YARMOOK for their exceptional professionalism, vigilance, and execution of duty under challenging maritime conditions.
“This successful counter-narcotics operation is a testament to the crew’s operational readiness and the Pakistan Navy’s dedication to safeguarding national interests while contributing to international peace,” said Admiral Ashraf.
He reiterated that Pakistan Navy remains steadfast in its mission to protect maritime frontiers, combat illicit activities, and support allied navies through cooperative security frameworks.
Strengthening Pakistan–Saudi Naval Cooperation
Admiral Ashraf emphasized that PNS YARMOOK’s operation under the Saudi-led Task Force reflects the deepening defence ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
This collaboration not only enhances operational interoperability but also builds shared capability for maritime domain awareness, intelligence sharing, and crisis response in regional waters.
Both navies continue to explore expanded cooperation in joint patrols, maritime training, and anti-piracy operations, reinforcing collective efforts toward regional peace and security.
Global Recognition and Strategic Significance
The Pakistan Navy’s participation in CTF-150 aligns with Islamabad’s broader vision of contributing to international maritime governance.
Such achievements are regularly commended by partner nations and international maritime coalitions, recognizing Pakistan Navy’s professionalism and leadership in ensuring secure sea lanes of communication—vital for the world’s energy trade and commerce.
