ISLAMABAD — October 10, 2025 — Highlighting the Political-Criminal Nexus in KP, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Friday addressed a press conference…
Lt Gen Chaudhry stated that after the 2014 Army Public School tragedy, both the government and the military launched a determined campaign to eradicate terrorism from KP. However, he revealed that in later years, “terrorists and their facilitators were deliberately given space under a well-thought-out plan,” resulting in weakened governance and public welfare.
The ISPR chief said that despite a recent surge in terror incidents, the Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement bodies have responded swiftly and effectively.
He disclosed that 917 terrorists have been killed in over 1,000 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) during 2025, while 132 civilians and 311 soldiers were among 516 martyrs.
On the issue of Afghan refugees, Lt Gen Chaudhry said Pakistan has long hosted “Afghan brothers,” but it is now time to send them back. He criticized political elements for “doing politics” over this issue and for spreading “fake and fabricated narratives” against the ongoing counterterrorism operations.
He described this campaign of misinformation as a “nexus between political and criminal elements.”
Lt Gen Chaudhry warned that anyone supporting or facilitating Fitna al-Khawarij (terrorists) has three choices: surrender them to the state, assist national institutions in operations, or face decisive state action.
