Qatar Peace Process: President Zardari Praises Qatar’s Role in Regional Stability
Qatar Peace Process has been praised by President Asif Ali Zardari, who acknowledged Qatar’s historic and constructive role in promoting peace, dialogue, and cooperation across the region. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Qatar’s leading newspaper The Peninsula, the President said that Qatar’s mediation paved the way for the Afghan peace process and helped resolve complex regional challenges.
“Qatar played an important role as a mediator for peace in the region,” President Zardari said. “Its facilitation opened the door to negotiations that advanced regional stability.”
Qatar Peace Process Strengthened by Pakistan–Qatar Partnership
The President highlighted that the Pakistan–Qatar partnership holds strategic importance for regional peace, energy cooperation, and social development. He emphasized that both countries can expand collaboration in skilled manpower, technology, and sustainable investment, supporting long-term prosperity.
“Pakistan and the Gulf states can greatly enhance cooperation in manpower availability, skill development, and sustainable investment,” he added.
Qatar’s Mediation in Global Peace Talks
President Zardari noted that Qatar’s facilitation extended beyond Afghanistan. The country also played a key role in the U.S.–Taliban negotiations and in mediating between Hamas and international parties.
He said, “Qatar’s consistent diplomacy reflects its dedication to peace and progress. The Qatar Peace Process is a model for the world to follow.”
Doha Global Process and Social Development Initiatives
Discussing the Doha Global Process, President Zardari said it aims to create shared opportunities for regional and global growth. He emphasized Pakistan’s alignment with the Doha Declaration, which recognizes the need for social protection and climate adaptation.
“We are addressing poverty, education, and health through human resource investment and social protection programs,” he explained.
Pakistan’s Social Programs in Line with the Doha Declaration
President Zardari said that more than 9 million families receive financial assistance through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). He highlighted how programs like Waseela Taleem and Nashonuma are improving educational and nutritional outcomes for children.
He also mentioned that cash assistance for flood victims significantly accelerated recovery efforts, adding that Pakistan continues to enhance its social protection system for climate resilience.
Empowering Women and Youth for a Stronger Pakistan
President Zardari emphasized that BISP’s digital wallets are empowering women by increasing their financial independence. He stated that Pakistan envisions a future where women are empowered, and youth have dignified employment opportunities.
“We want a Pakistan where women lead confidently, youth contribute productively, and peace prevails through cooperation,” Zardari concluded.
