SSWMB Launches Wage Violation Campaign

The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has launched a campaign to address violations of wage regulations by contractors and companies involved in waste management operations in Karachi. Managing Director Nasimuddin Meerani personally visited the Korangi district as part of the campaign’s initial phase, overseeing waste management activities.
Taking a proactive stance, Meerani instructed officials to issue notices and impose fines on contractors found violating rules, such as failure to pay minimum wages to workers and employing underage laborers. The SSWMB emphasizes its commitment to ensuring compliance with labor laws and warns of serious consequences for any violations.
This campaign reflects the board’s dedication to promoting fair labor practices and upholding the rights of workers engaged in waste management operations across various districts in Karachi. By actively monitoring and addressing violations, the SSWMB aims to create a more equitable and lawful working environment in the waste management sector.
