The Civil Aviation Authority CAA enhance security at airports

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in Pakistan has taken significant measures to enhance security at major airports, including the installation of 28 modern baggage scanning machines. According to sources, these state-of-the-art machines are being imported to strengthen security measures. The new machines are scheduled to be handed over to the Air Security Force (ASF) in February 2024, and they will replace older baggage machines gradually.

As part of this initiative, a state-of-the-art baggage scanning machine was installed at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on August 31, 2023. The inauguration ceremony was attended by UK’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott. This advanced scanning machine is expected to efficiently and comprehensively scan baggage, enhancing security measures for passengers traveling to the UK.

Following the installation in Karachi, a similar state-of-the-art baggage scanning machine was also installed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. The inauguration ceremony for this machine was also attended by UK’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, according to Director CAA Shahid Qadir.

These developments indicate a proactive approach by the CAA to modernize security infrastructure at airports, ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers. The replacement of older machines with more advanced technology reflects a commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements in aviation security.
