Transport Conference 2025 Opens in Islamabad to Boost Regional Connectivity
The Transport Conference 2025 officially began at the Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad, on October 23, 2025, bringing together transport ministers, maritime officials, and logistics leaders from across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Organized by the Ministry of Communications, Government of Pakistan, the three-day Regional Transport Ministers Conference (RTMC-2025) aims to strengthen regional partnerships, improve transport connectivity, and foster economic cooperation through integrated maritime, rail, road, and logistics systems.
PNSC and Ministry of Maritime Affairs Lead the Initiative
The Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), under the leadership of its Chief Executive Officer Syed Jarar Haider Kazmi, played a key role in the conference under the guidance of the Minister for Maritime Affairs, Mr. Junaid Anwar Chaudhry.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Junaid Anwar Chaudhry emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to building a secure, efficient, and interconnected transport system across the region. He highlighted the growing importance of maritime trade routes, port infrastructure, and land-sea connectivity in enabling economic development, particularly for landlocked Central Asian states.
Syed Jarar Haider Kazmi reaffirmed that PNSC remains dedicated to expanding Pakistan’s maritime capabilities and strengthening partnerships with regional and global logistics firms.
International Delegates Welcome Pakistan’s Initiative
Foreign delegates attending the Transport Conference 2025 praised Pakistan’s efforts in hosting an inclusive forum for maritime and logistics cooperation.
They noted that integrated transport systems and harmonized trade corridors are essential to improving the flow of goods and boosting economic ties between South Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Delegates also emphasized the need for sustainable transport infrastructure, digital logistics systems, and policy coordination among regional countries.
Two Major MoUs Signed During the Conference
A major highlight of Transport Conference 2025 was the signing of two landmark Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance maritime and logistics cooperation:
- PNSC and Dynamic Worldwide Logistics Group
- Signed by: Syed Jarar Haider Kazmi (CEO, PNSC) and Muhammad Saleh Tariq Chaudhry
- Objective: Strengthen collaboration in maritime logistics, establish new trade corridors, and develop sea-land integration systems to support international commerce.
- PNSC and Ravian Maritime Pvt. Ltd.
- Signed by: Syed Jarar Haider Kazmi and Abdul Hameed Paracha
- Objective: Develop regional shipping routes, launch new liner services from Pakistan to Central Asia, Far East, Gulf, Africa, and Europe, and improve trade connectivity through maritime and overland routes.
Both agreements align with the Government’s vision of strengthening Pakistan’s role as a regional logistics hub and promoting sustainable maritime trade.
Pakistan’s Commitment to Regional Trade and Cooperation
The Government of Pakistan and PNSC jointly reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the outcomes of Transport Conference 2025.
They pledged to transform policy discussions into practical strategies that will:
- Expand trade and transit routes
- Create new economic opportunities
- Support regional peace and development
Officials expressed optimism that these new initiatives will help integrate South Asia’s transport infrastructure with global supply chains, improving competitiveness and boosting export capacity.
