Center for Plant Conservation University Karachi has developed a 60-type seed bank consisting of different types of fruits, vegetables and plants

Karachi (Report: Javed Siddiqui) Acting Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi Justice Retired Hasan Feroze said that plantation is the best initiative to prevent extreme heat wave in the current context. Climate and environmental changes are taking place which are affecting the whole world and especially South Asian countries۔ Plantation can play a key role in preventing all these negative and dangerous climate changes۔ Karachi, a city with a population of more than two crore, is suffering from environmental pollution problems, one of the main reasons for which is the large-scale cutting of trees۔ He expressed these views while addressing a function organized by Center for Plant Conservation University Karachi on the occasion of International Bio-Diver City Day at Dr. SI Ali Botanical Garden University of Karachi۔ In the event, students from various schools and universities from all over the city participated in various activities on this occasion including plantation drive, kitchen, organic gardening, seed germanation, seed collection, plants collection, digital display, photography and plants shop activities. Included۔ Former Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi Professor Dr. Muhammad Qaiser said that organizing such activities is commendable۔ Organizing such events not only increases plantations but also develops a strong awareness and passion for plant attachment and care۔ On this occasion, Dr. Muhammad Qaiser, Registrar of University of Karachi Professor Dr. Abdul Waheed, Rais Kaliya Uloom Professor Dr. Musrat Jahan Yusuf and other teachers and students also planted different types of saplings۔ Earlier, in-charge Center for Plant Conservation University of Karachi Dr. Ruhi Bano highlighted the aims and objectives of the event and said that the purpose of the said event is to promote awareness among the citizens of Karachi and especially the children about the plantation campaign and its importance۔ He said that the Center for Plant Conservation University of Karachi has also prepared a bank of sixty types of seeds consisting of different types of fruits, vegetables and plants۔Various seeds and plants were presented as gifts to the students participating in the event۔
