Louis Dreyfus Company Expands Grain Storage in Pakistan
Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) has inaugurated a new grain storage facility in Multan, marking its first owned industrial site in Pakistan. The facility adds approximately 40,000 metric tons of grain storage capacity in South Punjab and strengthens the company’s logistics capabilities in the country.
The investment expands LDC’s presence in Pakistan’s domestic agricultural market while supporting its ability to respond to evolving customer requirements across the region.
Grain Storage Investment Strengthens LDC’s Presence
Rubens Marques, LDC’s Head of South & Southeast Asia, said Pakistan is an important grain market and a key destination for the company’s operations in South Asia.
He noted that growing populations and economies depend on strong and connected agricultural supply chains and trade flows. According to Marques, the new investment strengthens LDC’s domestic presence and its ability to serve changing customer needs, in line with the company’s strategy of reinforcing its core merchandising capabilities.
Pakistan’s Growing Demand for Grains
Pakistan is one of South Asia’s major agricultural markets and among the world’s largest producers and consumers of wheat. Its grain demand is supported by a population of more than 250 million.
Since establishing its presence in Pakistan in 2010, LDC has developed its operations across several agricultural commodities, including cotton, grains, oilseeds, pulses, rice, and sugar, while maintaining a strong position in the wheat market.
Grain Storage Infrastructure to Support Supply Chains
Muhammad Danyal, LDC’s Country Head for Pakistan and Head of Grains & Oilseeds for Pakistan, said the country’s strong agricultural base and growing demand for grains continue to create opportunities for the company’s business.
He said investment in grain storage and logistics infrastructure would enhance services for both suppliers and customers by supporting more efficient and resilient supply chains as Pakistan’s grains sector develops.
The facility is also expected to contribute to local job creation, further supporting LDC’s operations and presence in Pakistan’s agricultural sector.

The Multan facility represents an expansion of LDC’s logistics infrastructure in Pakistan, adding significant grain storage capacity in South Punjab.
With the new facility, LDC is strengthening its ability to support agricultural supply chains and grain-related operations in one of Pakistan’s key agricultural regions.
