ISLAMABAD (NNP) —
The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) carried out a successful intelligence-based operation at the Islamabad International Airport (IIAP), arresting a British-origin Pakistani national drug smuggler arriving from Thailand.
During the inspection of his luggage, ANF personnel recovered 11.182 kg of weed and 3.616 kg of cannabis, skillfully concealed in multiple packaging layers, valued at approximately Rs 16 million in the illegal market.
ANF Foils International Smuggling Attempt
According to ANF officials, the suspect had planned to smuggle the drugs to Azad Kashmir, using Pakistan as a transit route.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that he was involved in drug trafficking networks targeting students in educational institutions.
He also disclosed having an accomplice in Dhadial, Azad Kashmir, responsible for distributing weed and synthetic cannabis among youth in the region.

Legal Action Initiated
The ANF has registered a case against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act, 1997, and further investigation is underway to trace his local network and international connections.
Authorities are working to identify and dismantle the drug supply chains threatening Pakistan’s youth and academic institutions.
Growing Threat to Youth
Officials noted that the arrest highlights a rising trend of synthetic drug abuse among the youth, often marketed as a “modern lifestyle”.
The ANF warned that narcotics like weed, cannabis, and other intoxicants are causing serious damage to young generations in the name of entertainment.
ANF’s Commitment to a Drug-Free Pakistan
“Through continuous surveillance and intelligence-based coordination with law enforcement agencies, the ANF remains committed to protecting the youth from destructive substances,” an official spokesperson stated.
The ANF reiterated its mission for drug-free educational institutions and a drug-free Pakistan, calling on parents, teachers, and communities to stay vigilant and support preventive efforts.
