Pakistan Bangladesh Defence Relations Strengthen During CJCSC’s Visit to Dhaka
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), continued his official visit to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, where he met General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army, at the Army Headquarters in Dhaka.
This visit marks another major step in enhancing Pakistan Bangladesh Defence cooperation and promoting deeper military-to-military ties between the two friendly nations.
High-Level Meeting Focuses on Strategic Cooperation
During the official meeting, both sides discussed the positive trajectory of expanding defence collaboration between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The two military leaders acknowledged ongoing cooperation between their armed forces and emphasized the importance of maintaining regular exchange visits, joint military training programs, and operational coordination at multiple levels of leadership.
They agreed that continued engagement would further strengthen the Pakistan Bangladesh Defence partnership and contribute to regional peace and stability.
Commitment to Regional Peace and Defence Development
The dignitaries also reviewed the evolving global and regional security environment, reaffirming the shared interest in peace, development, and sustainable defence progress across South Asia.
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza highlighted the Pakistan Armed Forces’ long-standing commitment to regional cooperation, underscoring that Pakistan Bangladesh Defence relations have the potential to serve as a model of constructive engagement and mutual respect.
Both sides expressed optimism about expanding defence-industrial collaboration, sharing counter-terrorism experiences, and increasing cooperation in cyber defence, intelligence exchange, and disaster response.
Countering Disinformation and Emerging Security Threats
In addition to traditional defence topics, both sides addressed the growing challenge of disinformation and hybrid warfare tactics, recognizing them as common threats faced by modern militaries worldwide.
They agreed to enhance coordination in identifying and neutralizing disinformation campaigns, while promoting credible information-sharing platforms between the Pakistan and Bangladesh Armed Forces.
The discussion reaffirmed the need for Pakistan Bangladesh Defence authorities to engage in joint awareness initiatives, focusing on digital resilience and secure communication infrastructure.
CJCSC Highlights Longstanding Fraternal Relations
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza expressed appreciation for the Bangladesh Army’s professionalism and its contributions to regional and international peacekeeping operations.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s respect for its historic and fraternal ties with Bangladesh, built on shared culture, religion, and mutual understanding.
The Pakistan Bangladesh Defence dialogue was described by both sides as “constructive and forward-looking,” focusing on strategic alignment, training exchanges, and defence diplomacy.
