Karachi, Pakistan – On the special directives of Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Agha Khaleeq to review advance arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr and ensure the provision of the best municipal facilities to citizens, particularly in view of the forecast of possible rainfall. Officers and staff from the Sanitation Department, M&D Department, and other relevant departments attended the meeting.
Detailed discussions were held regarding cleanliness, drainage, road maintenance, and other municipal arrangements during the days of Eid-ul-Fitr, with a special focus on ensuring uninterrupted civic services.
Focus on Drainage System and Rain Preparedness
The meeting highlighted the weather forecast of possible rain during Eid-ul-Fitr, stressing the need for an effective and efficient drainage system in Manghopir Town. Municipal Commissioner Agha Khaleeq directed all concerned departments to immediately accelerate the cleaning of drains, gutters, and sewer lines across all areas to prevent any obstruction in water flow.
He further instructed that garbage, debris, and accumulated waste be removed promptly to maintain cleanliness and avoid potential flooding during rainfall.
Special Cleanliness Drive and Staff Deployment
During the meeting, the Sanitation Department was directed to launch a special cleanliness drive before Eid-ul-Fitr and to continue operations without interruption during the Eid days to ensure a clean and pleasant environment for citizens.
Additional staff duties were also assigned to effectively manage emergency situations and ensure smooth municipal operations.
Road Maintenance and Street Lighting
The M&D Department was instructed to ensure cleanliness of main roads, streets, and lanes, and to carry out immediate repair and installation of street lights where required. These measures aim to provide a well-lit and clean environment for residents during Eid celebrations.
All officers were further directed to conduct field visits and personally monitor sanitation and development work to ensure timely completion and quality standards.

Addressing the meeting, Municipal Commissioner Agha Khaleeq stated that Chairman Haji Nawaz Ali Brohi has clearly directed that citizens of Manghopir Town must be provided with the best municipal services during Eid-ul-Fitr, and that no negligence or lapse will be tolerated.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was reaffirmed that all available resources will be utilized to prioritize public convenience and welfare. Comprehensive arrangements for cleanliness, drainage, and lighting will be ensured so that citizens can celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr without inconvenience, while preventive measures will remain in place to handle any possible rainfall or emergency.
