Karachi: Efforts to strengthen Pakistan-Romania Cooperation received renewed attention during a meeting between Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi and representatives of the Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC) at the Governor House in Karachi.
The meeting focused on expanding bilateral trade, investment opportunities, and economic collaboration between Pakistan and Romania while exploring new avenues for business-to-business engagement.
Governor Sindh Appreciates Trade Promotion Efforts
During the meeting, Nehal Hashmi praised the contributions of Atif Farooqi for promoting commercial relations between Pakistan and Romania over the past 26 years.
The Governor acknowledged his role in enhancing trade links and strengthening economic engagement between the two countries. He also appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Romania Business Council in advancing trade diplomacy and encouraging private-sector cooperation.
The delegation included Atif Farooqi and Sohail Shamim Firpo.
Pakistan-Romania Cooperation in Key Economic Sectors
Discussions during the meeting covered several sectors with strong potential for future collaboration, including maritime trade, logistics, agriculture, industry, and information technology.
Both sides emphasized that stronger institutional linkages could create new opportunities for business partnerships and economic growth. Participants agreed that continuous engagement between public and private sector stakeholders is essential for expanding Pakistan-Romania Cooperation.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of encouraging investment and facilitating trade to unlock the full potential of bilateral relations.
KPT–Constanța Port Agreement Discussed
A key topic of discussion was the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between Karachi Port Trust and Port of Constanța.
Commenting on the agreement, Atif Farooqi stated that the initiative reflects the vision of Dan Stoenescu and could help establish Romania as an important gateway for Pakistan’s access to European Union markets.
He noted that enhanced maritime connectivity could improve trade facilitation and generate new opportunities for exporters and importers in both countries.
Commitment to Expanding Bilateral Engagement
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan-Romania Cooperation through practical initiatives aimed at increasing trade, investment, and economic collaboration.
Both sides emphasized the importance of transforming longstanding goodwill into tangible economic outcomes and exploring new opportunities that benefit businesses and investors in both nations.
