DG PSQCA Pledges Zero Tolerance for Substandard Products

Karachi NNPDG PSQCA zero tolerance for substandard products remained the central message as Dr. Sayeda Zia Batool, Director General of the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), chaired a detailed review meeting at the PSQCA Headquarters in Karachi.

She emphasized that quality assurance and consumer protection are the pillars of Pakistan’s industrial growth strategy, pledging that the Authority will continue to uphold internationally recognized standards and strict enforcement against any producer of low-quality goods.


Comprehensive Review of Directorates and Operations

Accompanied by Secretary PSQCA Mr. A.K. Rind and concerned directors, DG PSQCA Dr. Batool reviewed each directorate’s progress and technical advancements. The meeting covered testing labs, certification procedures, market surveillance, and inspection mechanisms nationwide.

“PSQCA is not just a regulatory body; it is a vital engine for economic prosperity and for improving the standard of life of our people,” she said.


DG PSQCA Focuses on Quality and Enforcement

Reiterating DG PSQCA zero tolerance for substandard products, Dr. Batool declared that constant vigilance and field enforcement are non-negotiable. She ordered immediate action against manufacturers and retailers distributing non-compliant goods and instructed officials to expand market sampling drives across Pakistan.

She further directed that testing facilities be equipped with modern technology and trained personnel so that results remain accurate and internationally acceptable.


Consumer Protection as Top Priority

Dr. Batool stressed that the Authority is fully committed to safeguarding public health and consumer rights. She reiterated that “there will be zero tolerance for substandard products in the market. Our consumers deserve safe, high-quality, and reliable goods.”

Her statement underscored PSQCA’s role as a national guardian of quality standards, with initiatives spanning food items, electrical appliances, construction materials, and industrial goods.


Aligning with International Best Practices

The DG directed technical wings to accelerate the harmonization of Pakistani standards with ISO and IEC benchmarks, facilitating trade and export competitiveness.
She encouraged industry stakeholders to adopt voluntary certifications and build stronger public–private collaboration to enhance the reputation of “Made in Pakistan” products abroad.


Institutional Strengthening and Future Vision

Concluding the session, Dr. Batool approved the provision of additional resources to expand testing, inspection, and certification capabilities.
She highlighted that PSQCA’s long-term vision includes digital standardization, automated market monitoring, and integration with regional standard bodies.

“Every officer must treat PSQCA as a mission to protect Pakistan’s consumers and elevate our industrial image,” the DG concluded.
