Faisal Moez Khan Urges Strong Defense of Indus Waters Treaty

Pakistan’s position on the Indus Waters issue must be presented more effectively at international forums to safeguard the country’s water rights, according to President of the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI), Faisal Moez Khan. He stressed that Pakistan would not compromise on its water resources, national interests, or food security under any circumstances.

Faisal Moez Khan Raises Concerns Over Indus Waters

Speaking to the media during a Haleem gathering at his residence in Karachi on June 30, 2026, Faisal Moez Khan described India’s proposed 7,250-megawatt hydropower network project as an act of “water aggression” against Pakistan.

He said India continues to pursue a confrontational approach despite facing criticism on the international stage. According to him, any attempt to interfere with Pakistan’s rightful share of river water is unacceptable and poses serious concerns for the country’s future.

Indus Waters Essential for Pakistan’s Economy and Food Security

Highlighting the significance of the Indus Waters, Faisal Moez Khan said Pakistan’s economy, agriculture, industry, employment, and food security are closely linked to its river water resources.

He emphasized that any pressure on or interference with Pakistan’s legally entitled water share could have far-reaching consequences for the country’s economic stability and the well-being of its people.

Call to Present Pakistan’s Case at International Forums

Faisal Moez Khan urged the Government of Pakistan, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to strengthen Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts on the issue.

He called for Pakistan’s position regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, international water laws, and the rights of lower riparian states to be presented effectively at upcoming international conferences to ensure the country’s legitimate water rights are protected.

Warning Against Escalating Regional Tensions

Faisal Moez Khan said India should respect international agreements and legal commitments instead of increasing regional tensions.

He warned that using water as a political tool could threaten regional peace and put the future of millions of people at risk.

Tribute to Pakistan Rangers Personnel

During his remarks, Faisal Moez Khan also condemned the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Rangers headquarters.

He described the sacrifices of the Rangers personnel who embraced martyrdom as unforgettable and paid tribute to their courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment in the fight against terrorism. He said the nation would always remember its security personnel with the highest respect and honor.
