Former Army Chief Bajwa Admitted to Military Hospital
ISLAMABAD: Former Chief of Army Staff Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa has been admitted to a military hospital after sustaining injuries from a fall at his residence.
The development was confirmed by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), which stated that the former army chief is currently receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
According to sources, Bajwa slipped at home and suffered injuries, prompting his admission to the hospital’s intensive care unit. While initial details about the severity of the injuries were limited, he was reported to be in stable condition.
Family Confirms He Is Out of Danger
In a video message shared on social media, Bajwa’s brother-in-law, Naeem Ghumman, explained that the former army chief was barefoot when he slipped, resulting in a head injury.
He said comprehensive medical tests were conducted and no suspicious findings emerged. Ghumman assured the public that Bajwa is “100 per cent out of danger” and recovering under medical supervision.
Background
Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, 65, served as Pakistan’s 10th Chief of Army Staff from November 2016 to November 2022. His tenure included a three-year extension granted in 2019.
Since his retirement, Bajwa has largely remained away from public engagements.
