The Punjab government has announced strict measures to maintain cleanliness during Eid-ul-Adha, including a Rs50,000 fine for citizens found throwing Animal Waste and sacrificial remains in streets and residential neighborhoods.
The decision was approved by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz during a video-link meeting held to finalize comprehensive sanitation and monitoring arrangements across the province ahead of Eid celebrations.
Punjab Government Introduces Strict Animal Waste Rules
During the meeting, authorities agreed to establish special vigilance squads to monitor and prevent the dumping of Animal Waste at prohibited locations. Officials were instructed to ensure strict enforcement of sanitation rules in urban and residential areas.
The provincial government also plans to launch a public awareness campaign encouraging citizens to dispose of sacrificial waste responsibly and avoid dumping remains in restricted places.
Special Cleanliness Arrangements Across Punjab
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to carry out special cleaning operations in drains, canals, markets, and other public spaces across Punjab.
Officials were further instructed to ensure proper sanitation arrangements in private housing societies, railway colonies, and cantonment areas during Eid-ul-Adha.
According to the meeting’s decisions, cleaning operations will also focus on 2,687 major commercial markets throughout the province to maintain hygiene and public convenience during the holiday period.
Monitoring System and Accountability Measures
The Punjab government has also decided to establish a monitoring system that will collect information from 11 different sources to address sanitation-related complaints quickly and efficiently.
The Chief Minister emphasized that all departments must function as “One Government Unit” to ensure successful cleanliness operations during Eid.
She further announced that departments showing outstanding performance would receive rewards and appreciation, while negligence and public complaints would result in accountability measures.
Authorities Ordered to Clear Waste by Third Day of Eid
During the meeting, authorities were instructed to ensure that all collection points and disposal sites for Animal Waste are fully cleared by the third day of Eid-ul-Adha.
The government says the new measures are aimed at maintaining cleanliness, improving public health standards, and ensuring a safer environment for citizens during the Eid holidays.
