The Sindh Cabinet has approved a series of major development, healthcare, energy, and security initiatives aimed at improving public services, strengthening infrastructure, and enhancing governance across the province.

The decisions were taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Syed Murad Ali Shah and attended by provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants, the chief secretary, and senior government officials.

Sindh Cabinet Allocates Funds for Water and Drainage Projects

The Sindh Cabinet endorsed recommendations presented by Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and approved an additional Rs8.825 billion for water supply and drainage schemes across the province.

The funding will support 16 Annual Development Programme (ADP) projects during the 2025-26 fiscal year. Of the total amount, Rs6.206 billion will be provided through ADP block allocations, while Rs2.618 billion will come from other development funds.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed relevant authorities to ensure that all approved payments are completed within the current financial year.

Karachi Mega Projects Receive Major Approval

Under the Karachi Mega Projects initiative, the Sindh Cabinet approved 11 major non-ADP infrastructure projects with a combined estimated cost of Rs11.198 billion.

The approved projects include the rehabilitation and upgrading of Haji Ibrahim Isa Road, Haji Camp Road, Korangi Link Road, Clifton roads connected to Marine Drive, and Mehran and Pajero Roads in Scheme-33.

Additional projects include the improvement of Korangi Creek Airbase Road, Gulzar-e-Hijri Jinnah Avenue Extension, Baldia Stadium Road linking Shahrah-e-Orangi with Hub River Road, a major bridge at Power House Chowrangi in North Karachi, and a flyover at K-4 Chowrangi in Surjani Town.

Development Scheme Approved for Sehwan Sharif

The Sindh Cabinet also approved a development scheme for Sehwan Sharif, focusing on restoration and improvement work around the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, Lal Bagh, and Sohk Centre.

The project has an estimated cost of Rs485 million, with an initial release of Rs24.25 million approved to begin implementation.

Officials said the initiative aims to improve facilities and infrastructure for residents and visitors in the historic city.

Energy Decision on Natural Gas Royalty

In a significant energy-sector development, the Sindh Cabinet approved a framework that will allow the province to receive its 12.5 percent natural gas royalty in kind rather than in cash from selected gas fields.

Provincial officials estimate that the move could generate more than Rs26 billion annually in additional benefits.

A committee headed by the Energy Secretary has been formed to develop a comprehensive strategy for the collection, commercialization, distribution, and monetization of royalty gas.

Healthcare Sector Receives Boost

The cabinet approved the release of Rs395.019 million to Integrated Health Services (IHS) to clear verified outstanding dues related to the management of 111 outsourced healthcare facilities.

These facilities include 105 Rural Health Centres and six Taluka Headquarters Hospitals operating across Sindh.

In another major healthcare decision, the Sindh Cabinet approved the Sindh Nursing Workforce Strategic Policy 2026-2040.

The policy aims to address shortages of nurses, faculty members, and healthcare professionals through the establishment of modern nursing colleges, simulation laboratories, student hostels, licensing reforms, and specialized training programs.

Counter-Terrorism Capacity to Be Enhanced

On security matters, the Sindh Cabinet approved amendments to the procurement plan of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), valued at more than Rs857 million.

The decision will allow the department to acquire advanced equipment and services through direct contracting with the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation.

Officials said the initiative is intended to strengthen counter-terrorism capabilities and improve security preparedness across the province.

Key Appointments Approved

The Sindh Cabinet also approved the appointment of Rashida Siddiqui as Consultant Law and Syed Ghulam Shabbir Shah as Prosecutor General Sindh.

The appointments were approved as part of the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen legal and prosecutorial functions within the administration.

The latest decisions reflect the Sindh Cabinet’s focus on infrastructure development, healthcare improvements, energy reforms, and enhanced security measures aimed at supporting the province’s long-term growth and public welfare objectives.
